Understanding Roller Blind Fascias and Headboxes

When selecting roller blinds for your space, the choice between a fascia and a headbox can make a significant difference to both the aesthetics and functionality of your window treatments. Fascias and headboxes not only conceal the roller blind barrel but also contribute to a polished and seamless appearance in any room.
What is a Roller Blind Fascia?
A fascia is a sleek metal cover designed to hide the roller blind fabric barrel completely. When the blind is fully retracted, all hardware remains concealed, offering a clean and unobtrusive look. Fascias can be used for roller blinds installed both inside and outside the window recess, making them a versatile choice for many applications.

What is a Roller Blind Headbox?
A headbox is a recessed metal box that houses the roller blind. Typically installed into a ceiling recess, it creates the illusion that the fabric is cascading directly from the ceiling. The slim slot of the headbox allows the blind to blend seamlessly into the architecture - perfect for achieving a minimalist, modern look.

Which One Should I Choose?
The choice between a fascia and a headbox depends largely on your installation method. If your blind is surface-mounted to a ceiling or window, a fascia is the ideal choice. However, if you have a pre-designed recess within the ceiling structure, a headbox offers the most integrated and sleek finish.
Silent Gliss Fascia and Headbox Range
Silent Gliss offers two fascia designs - flat and curved - alongside an aluminium headbox, all available in two sizes (73mm and 110mm) to suit a wide range of roller blinds. For motorised blinds installed inside a window recess, you can opt for side channels to eliminate light leakage. Without side channels, expect a small light gap of 15mm to 21mm on either side.
Our hardware is available in classic black or white as standard, with the option for custom RAL colouring to match any interior design scheme. Whether you’re looking for a minimalist aesthetic or a bold design statement, our fascias and headboxes ensure a sophisticated finish.
Planning Ahead
Installing fascias is straightforward, with the option for top or face fixing. Ensure you have a flat surface to accommodate the depth of the top profile. Headboxes, on the other hand, require more advance planning, including a designated space within the ceiling structure and a robust surface for secure fixing. If you’re considering a headbox, we recommend consulting with a member of the Silent Gliss team to ensure everything is set up correctly.
